I didn’t anticipate this being a category and noticed that I had created a bodies of work within projects that could also cut across under the aegis of “Works on paper”. I love how it comes together, especially because: 1/ it goes against the grain of how I usually work (determine the project determined beforehand); 2/ it gave results that are very different in each type; and 3/ I never thought of myself as a ‘drawist’ creating works on paper and never set out to do regular works on paper. All the more intriguing and enticing at a personal level, but also from the perspective of what can constitute “works on paper”. I would classify under Papyraa, or my Works on Paper: the smudgeages, the litdraws, the selos, cantos of Epikanova, sentens, #yekshab1, unbuk, the “phroems on paper” from The Book of Rides to All the Ends of the Lines, some of the artifacts derived from Roboeta. And…. The actual books!! Why not! I would also include the upcoming Tchikooka. And: all the DigOuts, or redirected notes, also dubbed, NOTAAs, which I now have begun to truly think of as types of finalized pieces. Finally, could early drafts and “brouillon” of actual books be redirected into functioning as artworks classified as ‘works on paper’. That would be a stretch, but a very interesting redirection, reframing, and ultimatley, recategorization. Maybe manuscriptaas…
